I made a big commitment not to have sugar and i succeeded. I really can't believe how well I coped throughout this month of February. Had a great time challenging myself to stay away from sugar. Mouth feels cleaner, body losing its bumps, lost 2kgs have continued to stay away from sugar, and not desiring it as before.

That's actually pretty achievable long term, and not too hard to sustain. I had to laugh though - I'm in a country town for work, looked at the bowling club menu last night and got grilled fish with a side of veges. Not too bad I thought. It arrived, turns out "veges" meant a pile of mashed potato big enough to feed a small army! Might stick with salad tonight...

I think I did better in January when I wasn't trying to not eat sugar!
I have forgotten what sins exactly I have committed, but there was vodka and birthday cake involved. And I recall requiring the assistance of some jasmine rice after a particularly spicy curry. There are others I can't remember.. will be forwarding my donation receipt shortly!

I must "confess" how easy it was to continue with sugar free!!! Before doing sugar free in November last year, my biggest source of sugar was my consumption of sugar base molecules - yes my intake of carbohydrates. Jasmine rice, bread (multigrain never white), pasta and potatoes. Almost every evening meal had carbs. I'd would eat the occasional chocolate, ice cream, 1 sugar in a tea/coffee, biscuit, slice of cake, etc., but they were very easy to avoid because they were only "occasionals". Even alcohol was an occasional every couple of weeks, so not missed. Not big on soft drinks either.

So this time round, I continued to avoid carbs as a big portion of my evening meals. I still eat grain bread, basmati rice, sweet potato and fruit, but all without being the main component of a meal or as regular. No probs with sugar laden foods or drinks this month. So all good. That said, on Saturday I bought a snickers bar to eat tomorrow (1st March) ... It is the "NEW DRY ROASTED ALMOND" bar .... I have to try it!! LOL!! :)

By the way I lost 3kgs this month too!! Well done everyone for a great effort!

I've been lucky this month in that at the beginning of Feb, we just moved offices and it has taken us until this week to fill the cupboards with all the evil temptations (freddo frogs, beer, cans of soft drink etc) So a habit that was ordinarily there, was actually not available. I have slipped up a couple of times though, both last weekend.
The first was for my partner's birthday - dinner was okay, thai, but we went out for Gelato afterwards...I had a scoop in my affogato. He gave himself the day off sugar free though which I thought was fair enough. The second was at lunch the next day. I had a glass of wine at my favourite restuarant with my girlfriends. It was heartbreaking watching them eat dessert though.

Still two days to go...

It's been pretty successful this time around - I've had a bowl of pasta and one lite beer during the month, and I have my birthday bbq on Sunday (so I know I'll break at least one rule there), but I'm finding it pretty easy to keep on track. Breaking my habit of adding sugar to tea & coffee back in November certainly made it easier.

Congratulations to all participants for a big effort !

Ok. I confess. I must admit Feb was/is a bad time for me. Chinese New Year - can't resist that CNY cake ! Plus had friends from UK here that I havent seen for many years, so alcohol over dinner while catching up.... my bad!

But good news is since the no sugar november month, i havent touched soft drink for 3 months! (only soda water, or plain mineral water).

so far so good (except for the slip ups this month).
