A new recipe everyday!

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

I am proud to announce that I have a new feature on my website that will load a new paleo recipe everyday.

It is on my CrossFit website www.crossfitkensington.com.au

You just have to scroll down and it is on the left hand side of the page.

It is an awesome feature to help you guys maintain a healthy diet as all of the recipes will be based on paleo eating, which means no artificial food!

Jump across with this link and bookmark it and check in on the recipe everyday.

Enjoy!

Last week of NOsugarVEMBER

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Well, 3 weeks down and 9 days to go!

Well done to everyone who has succeeded to stay sugar free for the month so far. You should all be feeling lighter, not just on the scales, but in your self. Your stomach should feel less bloated, especially with the 3 times a week psyllium husk!

So by combining no sugar, pysillium husk and 5 days a week exercise, I would be very surprised if you haven’t lost a significant amount of weight. Your pants should definitely feel looser around the waistline if nothing else!

Start thinking now about what long term changes you will make after staying sugar free for 30 days. I know I have said it before, but here are a few suggestions to make eating less sugar fit in with your life;

  • Sweet treats only once or maximum twice per week.
  • Alcohol only once or a maximum twice per week.
  • No sugar in tea or coffee.
  • Don’t think of dried fruit as a health food.
  • Rice, bread and pasta are not staple food groups, they are small accompaniments to meals at the most.
  • Look for low sugar varieties of yogurt.
  • Never ever drink soft drinks or bottle juices.

Just by making these small changes listed above, you will find yourself feeling better, living healthier and maintaining your healthy weight range easier.

Good luck for the last 9 days.

Remember, 0, 3 and 5

0 sugar, 3 times a week psyllium husk and 5 days a week exercise

Christmas celebrations

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Hi All,

The annual Outdoor Group Training Christmas breakfast is going to be on Christmas Eve this year.

Christmas Eve will be out last training day for the year, so what better day to have our celebration!

We will have a tough 30 min workout at 6am and then have a 30ish minute breakfast afterwards.

If you would like to bring something, let me know and we can all discuss it so that we don’t double up on things.

The Evening Christmas Celebration is still up in the air at the moment, with suggestions of casual drinks at The Centennial Hotel, or dinner at Lebanon and beyond or dinner at Grotta Capri. I would love your feedback and also what day would work best for you.

I am thinking a Thursday night works best as a lot of you have things on regularly on Friday’s. So please let me know what works best, December 9th, 16th or 23rd.

Thanks guys, looking forward to the catch up and seeing what you all look like out of exercise gear!!!

Another even better awesome article about how bad sugar is for us

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Thanks to Jovana again, I have this great article about sugar and insulin and diabetes.

It is a few pages long, so you have to keep clicking across the page links because they only put a little bit of info on each page, but please read it, it is well worth it, with some very scary info in there.

After reading this, you may understand why you don’t have to be a weight loss candidate to limit your sugar intake and why I associate sugar with heart disease more than I associate fat with heart disease.
Read me, I’m an awesome article:)

CrossFit Kensington opening

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Thanks to everyone who came down on Saturday to help celebrate the grand opening of CrossFit Kensington. All of your support is greatly appreciated and I think everyone had a great time with a hard workout and some yummy food.

The workout on the day was only 12 mins, to prove to people who had never experienced CrossFit before  how hard you can actually work in 12 mins.

My point was proved by the reactions immediately after the workout and 24 hours after the workout too. Everyone was smashed after the workout, but I caught up with a  few people 24 hours later and they were in agony. Hannah included, even though she does a hard workout 5 days per week. It all comes down to how hard you push yourself in any given workout!

The days of boring old 1on1 gym sessions are over, they are no match for the intensity you can experience with CrossFit and the motivation you get by training with a group.

I’ve posted a few photos below, but all the rest can be found by clicking here

One more little thing the new Studio needed

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

There was just one more little thing that needed to be done before my grand opening on Saturday…

Take one blank wall, add one talented graffiti artist, mix in an awesome logo and this is what you get…

An awesome yogurt!

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

I have had a new yogurt brought to my attention by one of my clients, I have not tried it, but the nutritional label is awesome, the best I have seen!

I will definitely be getting hold of some of them, with only 4.8g sugar per 100g in the passionfruit flavour! It has more protein than carbs! It looks like a good balanced snack. Balanced with carbs, protein and fat.

Just to top it off, it is organic!

Check it out here!

Finn’s Charity Night

Hi Guys,

Some of you may know that Finn works for a company called Stepping Stone House which is a not for profit organisation that is accredited to provide out of home care for adolescents who through no fault of their own can no longer live at their own home.

This Friday the 12th November, there is a fund raising night at the Gazebo Penthouse. The $75 tax deductible entry fee includes finger food, drinks, fabulous views and it is going to have a casino theme with free poker chips and lots of games.

The invite is attached below, so take a look and I am sure it will be a great night out, but don’t wait, it is this Friday!
